Dagupan City officials, representatives from the private sector, and officers of the United Pangasinan ICT Council met on June 10, 2023 at the E-Library to discuss enhanced institutional development for the city.

The meeting was led by Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Director Reynaldo Sy, Director IV, Region I who said that the department is committed to making Dagupan a digital city.

"We are working with our partners in the private sector and the academe to develop a roadmap for Dagupan's digital transformation," Sy said. "This roadmap will outline our goals for the next five years, and it will help us to make Dagupan a more competitive and attractive place to live, work, and do business."

Mr. Bonifacio Belen from the Cebu ICT Council led the discussion on the Fundamental Management Concepts and Paradigms which focuses on the role of the ICT Council as a catalyst for ICT Development in the city. Furthermore, Mr. Belen facilitated the workshop on the Council's SWOT and Implementation Plans.

The meeting also discussed the importance of enhanced institutional development for Dagupan City. Deans of the three major universities: PHINMA-University of Pangasinan, Lyceum Northwestern University and University of Luzon shared their insights on how the city can improve its educational institutions.

Representatives from the private sector also shared their ideas on how to improve the city's business environment. They said that the city government should focus on improving its infrastructure, providing tax incentives, and streamlining its business registration process. Present in the said meeting is IAM Contact Solutions COO, Mr. Nestor Feland B. Panopio.

The meeting was a productive and it helped to lay the groundwork for Dagupan City's digital transformation. The city government, ICT Council Vice Chair, Atty. Wilson Manalo is committed to working with its partners to make Dagupan a more competitive and attractive place to live, work, and do business.
